ATTASUB: Analytical Tools and Technical Assessment for Large-Scale Seismic Upgrade of Bridges

ATTASUB (Analytical Tools and Technical Assessment for Large-Scale Seismic Upgrade of Bridges) is a PRIN 2022–2025 research project funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) that develops optimal solutions for the seismic retrofitting of existing highway bridges. It combines advanced dynamic modelling of seismically isolated bridges with supplemental energy-dissipation strategies and decision-making design tools to control seismic vibrations effectively.

Multi-objective optimization of nonlinear passive control systems for seismic response mitigation of bridges

As a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Naples “Federico II” (February 2024–March 2025), I have led the ATTASUB project, which focuses on reinforcing Italy’s existing highway bridges through the integration of innovative seismic isolation devices and modifications into analytical and numerical models, ensuring enhanced resilience under earthquake loading . My role encompassed the design and validation of nonlinear dynamic models for seismically isolated bridge systems, the development of optimization algorithms for rate-dependent and rate-independent dampers, and the creation of decision-making tools that prioritize retrofit scenarios based on performance metrics, cost-effectiveness, and practicalibility . This work was carried out in collaboration with Università Parthenope and ITC-CNR and funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR).
